Misc Debris posted Friday, March 30, 2001 by Dave

The rear swaybar didn't fit.

It was meant for an Impreza, and it would have fit just fine had it cleared the exhaust and fuel tank. Oh well, i had the urethane links put on for good measure, while the bar was off.

I've added a few more things to the site. First is a review of the Legacy RS from AutoSport magazine. Next is part 2 of Turbo Magazine's Sport Sedan Project Car. Lots of good info and interesting reading in both.

Saturday we've got a big meeting in SLC with a ton of Subarus, i'll take a bunch of pics. Sunday is the first Autocross of the season, and i'm grinning with excitement. It's been too long.

I'm still searching for a set of good coilovers for the Wagon. A few oportunities have manifested themselves, but nothing really solid yet. I've got an intercooler on the way, and maybe even a 2nd one.

Bunches of stuff in The Library posted Wednesday, March 28, 2001 by Dave

Matt sent me some older magazines with some very cool Legacy stuff recently, and i've come across a 1993 vintage Subaru Press kit on eBay. Well i've scanned most of it in and posted it up in the Library for your reading.

First is the specs for the 93 Legacies, then info on the ABS & AWD, New models and features and finally some very nice glossy photos.

Next are some scans from the Rothman Legacy Giveaway in AutoSport, late 1991.

Finally, a whole article in J's magazine comparing the Legacy RS & STI vs Galant VR4 and EVO. Sure it's in Japanese, but the pictures are super nice.

Coming Attractions... posted Monday, March 26, 2001 by Dave

I've got a few things coming up that'll whet your whistle.

My ver1 WRX intercooler should be on its way here, hopefully i'll see it by Friday in time for the big meet in SLC, so i can compare it to Jon's. The pics i've seen of his have some slight differences.

I'm also getting the popular Whiteline 20-24mm adjustable rear swaybar and their urethane endlinks for the rear. I might also get the anti-lift kit, but i'll probably hold off on it for the moment.

Finally, i'm really looking hard at a full coilover setup to replace my KYB GR2 and stock spring setup. The height and dampening adjustability of those setups is very appealing, as i really want to lower the car about 1" and be able to adjust the shock valving for street, auto-x and track use. Prices are steep, but all reports and all of my short experiences in coilover-equipped cars have led me to believe it's worth the money in the long run.

Stay tuned.

Iridium! posted Thursday, March 22, 2001 by Dave

I've got a short guide on my installation of the cool Denso Iridium sparkplugs available here for your browsing.

I like the plugs, though it's hard to say how much of a difference they make on a turbocharged car.

Unorthodox Underdrive pulley installed! posted Tuesday, March 13, 2001 by Dave

I got my pulley yesterday and installed it last night. It was relatively easy and i've put up a guide for those considering it.

Give Cobb Tuning a call for the best price i've found with new belts @ $189 + shipping.

Installing an Underdrive Pulley

Weekend happenings posted Monday, March 12, 2001 by Dave

I went to a local shop in the SLC valley to have my Timing Belt, Water Pump and Underdrive Pulley preplaced, but not everything went as planned.

Good news: My timing belt is probably less than 12k miles old, you can still see the NAPA part number and timing marks on it, so we put it back in. The water pump is in very good shape, with no sign of bearing wear and with good resistance. $160 i didn't have to spend! I did have Charles replace my Transmission Filter, so i feel a bit better about that now.

Bad: My UOR pulley didn't get shipped till Thursday, and arrived Friday when i was in SLC. I came back to Ogden to get it, only to find that it was a different package than what i expected. Little did i know that the pulley had arrived, but was elsewhere at my work. I'll be installing that tonight.

Kevin (aka gtguy) is a well known poster in the Legacy forum at the i-club, and his suspension has changed more times in the last six months than i can remember. I asked him to summarize his feelings about stock vs AGX vs TEIN vs DMS and he obliged. It's a good, informative read, so have a look.

Samir's 93 Sport Sedan is up for sale in the Members section.

He's got a very clean car that has been well maintained and is asking a pretty good price for it. If you'd like to get your hands on it, or ask him a question, his email and phone number are available.
